Spring 2020 Program Announcement

We are excited to announce our Spring 2020 program plans. We have planned a full array of options with every family in mind. We know there is still plenty of hockey to be played for the fall season but we wanted to get these details out as soon as possible.

Be on the lookout for program dates and registration links with pricing details in the coming weeks.  The full list of our program details can be found below.

Spring Skill Sessions:

We are continuing our advanced skill sessions into spring. These sessions will be more specifically tailored to age groups and the developmental needs for each group. Each of these age specific sessions will work on skills to help continue to mold our players into well rounded athletes on the ice. We are encouraging any player looking to try out for both Spring Tournament Teams and Fall Birthyear Travel teams to participate in the skills sessions. Sessions will run the first 2 weeks in March.

Checking Clinic:

All first year Co-Ed14U players (2007's) must complete 2 hours of checking clinics BEFORE they begin play in 2020 spring season.

Checking Clinics will feature proper balance and stance for RECEIVING a check, proper angles to use when GIVING a check and most importantly, how best to AVOID a check.

The clinic is recommended for all Co-Ed 14U players and Co-Ed second year 12U players.  Players will be paired up by size when checking.

Cost of the clinic is $50 for first time participants, $25 for players that have completed a clinic in the past.

Players must participate in at least 2 to meet state and USA Hockey requirements. Clinics will run throughout the month of March to allow for greater participation.

Spring Tournament Teams:

For our travel players and those seeking a higher level of competition (perspective travel players), we are offering the opportunity to participate in tournaments during the spring season. Each Tournament Team will compete in 2 spring tournaments and teams will be determined by birth year, with the potential option for mixed birth year teams depending on turnout volume.

In preparation for our Fall travel teams that will participate in LCAHL, the 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008, 2007 birthyear teams will participate in the Chi-Town Shuffle & The Chicago Shootout unless the Gauntlet is a better option to tier for LCAHL. All other birth year teams will participate in any two of the options listed below determined by our hockey coordinators.

Please note that tournament teams are highly competitive and not all players who tryout will be guaranteed a spot on a team. Assessments will take place in mid-March for all tournament teams.

Tournament Team fees will be divided among the players participating on the team for each individual tournament.

Tournament Options:

  • Chi-Town Shuffle April 17th-19th

Southwest Spring League:

This spring, St. Jude will be placing a limited number of teams in the SWSL (Bronze Travel & House players).

  • As the new age divisions apply starting with spring, the age levels birthyear breakdown will be: 8U - 2012-2013, 10U - 2010-2011, 12U - 2008-2009 and 14U - 2006-2007.
  • Each team will have 1 weekly split-ice practice and place approximately 6-8 games.
  • Players will be required to have a St. Jude reversible jersey which will be available for purchase if needed.  If a player's reversible jersey fits and is in good condition from the 2019-20 season, they may use it and will not require a new jersey.
