Knights are men, women, and children of courage, honor, dignity, courtesy and nobleness. They protect the weak, honor and fight for the righteous, and persevere to the end in any enterprise begun.

The St. Jude Knights strive to embody these virtues on and off the ice, and we honor those who consistently demonstrate these qualities by welcoming them to the Order of the ELM.

The Order of the Elm recognizes those Knights, whether they are players, coaches, or parents, who embody a willingness to work hard, to play by the rules, to keep a positive attitude, to support teammates, and to show good character on and off the ice. The ELM Tree and its ROOTS remind us of the core virtues that define what it means to be a St. Jude Knight.

St. Jude Knights

We Honor the Game

A Knights honor defines his or her character.  On and off the ice, a Knight must honor the game by respecting ROOTS.

R is for Rules.  The rules keep the game fair.  Breaking the rules dishonors the game.

O is for Opponents.  Without worthy opponents the game would have no honor.  Knights respect their opponents in order to bring out the best in themselves.

O is for Officials.  Without the officials the game would be unsafe and unfair.  Officials sometimes make mistakes.  Knights show respect for officials at all times, even when they disagree.

T is for Teammates.  Knights honor their teammates by encouraging and supporting each other on and off the ice.

S is for Self.  Knights set their own internal standards and honor the game even when others do not.
