St. Jude Coaches Participate in Positive Coaching Workshop!

St. Jude is proud to announce that it is partnering with the Positive Coaching Alliance for the upcoming 2014-15 season.

The PCA is a national non-profit committed to developing "Better Athletes, Better People" by working to provide all youth and high school athletes a positive, character-building youth sports experience.

By partnering with the PCA, St. Jude gains access to important tools and techniques that will help our club "Honor the Game" and create a culture we can be proud of.

We understand that our coaches play a large role in shaping this culture.  Therefore, all St. Jude coaches are required to pass the first installment in the Double Goal Coaching Course Series "Coaching for Winning and Life Lessons."

Players and parents also play a role in shaping our culture.  Please explore the PCA website at www.positivecoach.org to learn what you can do to help us achieve our goal of creating a positive youth sports experience for St. Jude members.

With the hockey season right around the corner, over 40 St. Jude coaches gathered on Saturday to share ideas and best practices at a Positive Coaching workshop led by Joe Terrasi of the Positive Coaching Alliance. At the workshop, St. Jude coaches shared ideas about how best to teach St. Jude players to win both on and off the ice. The workshop focused on methods to encourage players to give maximum effort, focus on constant learning and improvement, and bounce back from from mistakes in a positive way. It also allowed coaches to share ideas about how  they can teach their players to  "Honor The Game" by respecting rules, officials, opponents, teammates and self.
